Berlin Residential

Fri Jan 30, 2009, 5:14 PM
Just got back from this years European Residential and gotta say, I had an awesome time. While venice remains my favorite the trip has really opened my eyes in alot of ways. I have alot more respect for the germans, got to see alot of good architecture in both comtemporary buildings and preserved buildings, I got to see the Berlin Wall and the East Side gallery (people gotta learn some respect, yeah the art is grafitti, that doesn't mean its all right for you to add to it unless theres a guy with a AK-47 ready to blow your head off), I got to see the Blue Man Group live and man was I amazed. I also got to go Kunsthause Tacheles which was really incredible, I got to see some great art there and really enjoyed the amazing vibe that place has. I hope they allow artists to continue working there.

The museams and galleries we went to were very interesting, the Jewish Museum and Holocaust Monuments were very moving though I was a little dissapointed with the Anish Kapoor exhibition, his piece was interesting but did not hold my attention enough to stand alone in the gallery as it did.

So the research week of my project is over, got some more work to do on my sketchbook this weekend and gotta come up with something worthy for my project. got some pretty abicious ideas but can't decide if I should go for something a bit more humble. Time will tell and I havent got much, I know my photoshop work from the Venice Residental prooved suprisingly popular hear so I hope to please once again. That said theres a possibility of a few of us running another exhibition in a local gallery. Still got to confirm (And do the work) but its an exciting prospect. The one day exhibition I displayed in at the Backlight Gallery in Nottingham got some good feedback so I'm hoping I can do it again.
